One Last Weekend

Well, tomorrow I turn twenty-four years old... and I dont want to. I dont really want to grow up any more. Where is the pull down properties menu to change the course of time? This sucks! And to top it all off, I have news of a sadder nature.

My Grandmother Nadine (My mothers mother) is in the hospital. It happened yesterday. She was outside working in her garden, and she started feeling dizzy. She went inside and then started to have chest and shoulder/arm pain. So what does she do? She takes a nap! WTF!? ANyway, she wakes up and is still in pain, so she pops a few asprin... then stumbles next doot to my Great Grandmother's house. My Great grandmother calls an ambunalce (under protest from grandma Nadine) and she's rushed to the CCU (Cardiovascular Care Unit). Preliminary reports point to a mild heart attack... I just jope it isn't.

The last time I was visiting the hospital for something like that, was for my Grandfather... and a few months later, he passed away. This doesn't exactally feel good. I dont want to loose my grandmother. And it scares me to think about it.

In other news, I discovered today that David, a bowling teammate, is also an RCDD. It's interesting actually... two people, who had no idea of hat hte other one did... is part of a group that is roughly 6,000 people in the US... and we're on the same team?? WOAH. Plus he has his NTS and is going for the Wireless section as well.

I finally fixed my Check Engine light this weekend. You can read about it here. It only ttok me three months to get the time to do it. But it is nice to be able to get rid of a Check engine light all by yourself, without having to pay the dealership two hundred plus dollars for it.

One Hundred twelve more minutes left of my twenty-third year upon this Earth.

Bittersweet Defeat

Waht a day this has turned out to be in my Mustang circle.

Justin, a friend of mine and a moderator of 3.8mustang.com, recently get rid of his Mustang (which may I add, was a thing of beauty) and got a Mazda 6. Now the Mazda looks pretty kick ass... but it's no Mustang. So, since he got this car, there is little doubt that he will be slowing his posting on the 3.8mustang.com site. Cant say I blame him.

Over the last three years, I've contributed a shit load to the 3.8 Mustang comminuty. How To Articles, My CAI Article, videos, sound files of exhaust... and general information that I knew about the Mustang.

3.8Mustang.com was the original forum for the V6 Mustang community, and naturally, the place where my Mustang knowledge has grown immensely.

I'm currently being considered as a third moderator. Now, I'm tickled pink about this. This site is the most popular 3.8 mustang site on the internet, and finally, I've made enough of an impression for SOMEONE to actually recognize that I know what the hell I'm talking about. I mean, shit, I post faster than the current moderators anyway! Dont believe me? Well go take a look at the bolt on section of that site and tell me how many times a moderator quoted whatever I said, then locked the thread. I'm almost positive it's happened at least 3 times already this week.

Anyway, I hope I get it. It will be a huge step in the right direction for me on a personal level. I kow the CAI article has helped others in the past (they Private Message me about it every day), I just want the recognition from the rest of the site that I'm not just some ordinary joe-schmoe who thinks he knows a lot.

Treading Lightly

It seems that Jeff is having more trouble with his business than he was last week. All the people working in Quicklist, except Jeff, has left... and he sounds pretty torn up about it. He had me just call up locksmiths around Redlands to come out and change the locks for it. He sounds pretty upset, and If I can and if he needs it, I'll offer my help whenever I can.

Dishwashing Wallabe

A week ago Saturday, I get a call from Kim, an old friend That I've known since I was ten years old, who had asked me to go to a Dishwalla show that night. I say sure and I have to be at her place at 5:00 PM since the show is in San Pedro, at the same building that Dishwalla has their band practices. The place is called "The Orphanage."

Kim and I proceeded to drive in my car the almost two hour trip from Lake Mathews to San Pedro. On the way there, Kim breaks one of the fundamental rules of going to a concert... she played the new Dishwalla CD. But, I don’t say anything and listen to it. And to my surprise, the CD isn't too bad. They're one of the few groups that haven’t really changed their sound with the passage of time. Not a lot of bands can do that without becoming history and falling into oblivion. I'm happy that Dishwalla has been able to do it though... Since the very first concert I ever went to was a Dishwalla concert at UCR.

This is also the first and ONLY concert that I've been to that served food and booze free of charge! But, seeing how I just had four shots of Espresso half an hour earlier in a nearby coffee shop, I wasn't too hungry or thirsty. Kim had a drink or two and dinner.

We sat on the edge stage, since the band was going to be playing on the floor. The room, roughly thirty feet wide by one hundred twenty feet long, was filled with only two hundred people. I thought it was going to be packed, but there was enough seating and standing room around the band to be able to get a good view.

I'm not one for pressing my musical likes and dislikes onto other people, but this was one of the more enjoyable shows I've been to. Dishwalla had a Q and A session, then played for about ninety minutes.

On the way out, Kim got photos with each of the band members (minus the bassist since he was in Colorado), and we both got a fully autographed CD poster.

I dont get to spend much time with Kim, seeing how we've both grown up from our high school days. But I am happy that she thought of me to call and invite me to the show. Thanks Kim!

A Few Weeks of Gaming

Charles is free from his husband obligations for a few weeks while his wife is visiting New Mexico. So what does this mean? It means that I'm staying at his place playing video games every night! Well, almost every night that is. Nicole still gets her visits from me on a weekly basis though.

Charles picked up two new games for us to play, Act Of War: Direct Action and MX Vs. ATV Unleashed.

"Act of War" is a great game, but it's hard as hell! Charles and I can barely handle a Medium and an Easy opponent combined. Though I must say, our original strategy was much more effective than the strategy we tried last night.

"MX Vs. ATV Unleashed" is pretty cool, though I must admit, I'm not very good at it. It makes me want to go out and buy a Yamaha YZ250 to go have some REAL adventures. Maybe I'll be able to someday... before I'm too old to have to worry about killing myself on a 15' tabletop while pulling a Nothing transitioned into a Superman before landing.

Bowling for Buzzards

I started the new season on my bowling league... and being the only one from my team left on this season, I found myself going in to a four person team league, alone, hoping to get thrown onto a team. Benton called me and said that he couldn’t make it that day, but he said that he would play. So I guess you can count that as a team member... until.

In the pre-league meeting I told Susan that Benton and I would play this season. She said, "Great", then David chimed in, "Perfect, you and Benton can be on our team!"

Now this came as a shock to me. David and I are both in the top five bowlers on this league. It seemed at that moment like it would become an unbalanced league. But it occurred to me that we have handicaps for that one reason.

There is another problem. Benton doesn’t particularly like Susan and David. I guess they just butt heads too often. And besides, Benton doesn’t like the "League Shirt Rule" that states you have to wear your league shirt during league play, else pay a three dollar fine. Jesus TittyFucking Christ B3nton, wear the damn shirt and you don’t have to worry about it! But, Benton usually don't see eye to eye unless we're playing Guitars, watching TV, or partying. This proved to be a nuisance in our working relationship, but that belongs in another post.

I called Benton after the meeting and told him the team arrangements. And, no to surprise to me, he sounded hesitant to join the league then. It was one thing to play Susan and David once in a while, but to be on their team... well, in Benton's eyes, that didn’t sound like a good idea. So I'll ahve to write Benton an Email today to see what he wants to do. My guess is, he wont play.

I dropped my average about 15 pins. This didn't bother me, since I wanted a little better handicap. I have a six pack of Guinness, then went back to Charles' place. I don’t know what will happen if Benton decides not to play.
